Advocacy School: Forming Leaders for Change in LAC
The School of Advocacy has been a very long road of learning, full of different opinions and ideas shared among young people from different regions with the objective of sharing ideas for the improvement of the country. The School of Advocacy serves to encourage young people to have new ideas and approaches that resonate with the current needs and challenges that represent each country in Latin America and the Caribbean and thus be able to help adapt and update public policies and bring agreements in our countries and promote in the rest of the world to achieve a future with more equity and public happiness.
The School of Advocacy teaches us from its beginnings the importance and achievements of the Regional Conference on Population and Development, and why it is important to integrate with equality and respect for human rights and how youth contribute in a significant and strategic way to make visible the progress of sexual and reproductive rights, gender perspective, and youth.
The history of CPD has been a long road and to know how since Cairo 1994 it has been advancing is really impressive, especially everything that feminists managed to do from their possibilities while going through a difficult situation in the LAC region, such as a time of dictatorship.
Despite all this adversity, great achievements have been made, such as: the indefinite life of the population and development agenda, the recognition of the regional space of the Conference on Population and Development as a permanent subsidiary body of the United Nations. All these advances inspire us to continue fighting to keep the Montevideo Consensus alive.
The School of Advocacy trains us to remember what we have learned and to see the situation of each country in a clearer way through advocacy exercises, mapping to know where we are in each country, analyzing authors and also getting to know the mapping of other countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.
La Escuela de Incidencia ha sido un camino muy largo de mucho aprendizaje lleno de diferentes opiniones e ideas compartidas entre jóvenes de distintas regiones con el objetivo de poder compartir ideas para una mejora de país. La Escuela de Incidencia sirve para impulsar a jóvenes a tener nuevas ideas y enfoques que resuenen con las necesidades y desafíos actuales que representa cada país de América Latina y el Caribe y así poder ayudar a adaptar y actualizar las políticas públicas y llevar acuerdos en nuestros países y promocionar en el resto del mundo para lograr un futuro con más equidad y felicidad pública.
La Escuela de Incidencia nos enseña desde sus principios la importancia y logros de la Conferencia Regional sobre Población y Desarrollo, y de por qué es importante la integración con igualdad y respeto de los derechos humanos y como las juventudes contribuyen de manera significativa y estratégica para poder visibilizar los avances de los derechos sexuales y reproductivos, perspectiva de género, juventudes.
La historia de CPD ha sido un largo camino y saber cómo desde Cairo 1994 ha ido avanzando es realmente impresionante, en especial todo lo que las feministas lograron hacer desde sus posibilidades atravesando una difícil situación en la región LAC, como un momento de dictadura. A pesar de toda esta adversidad se dan grandes logros como: la vida indefinida a la agenda de población y desarrollo, se reconoce el espacio regional de la Conferencia sobre Población y Desarrollo como órgano subsidiario de Naciones Unidas con carácter permanente. Todos estos avances inspiran a seguir luchando por mantener vivo el Consenso de Montevideo.
La Escuela de Incidencia nos forma para poder recordar lo aprendido y ver la situación de cada país de una manera más clara por medio de ejercicios de incidencia, hacer mapeo para saber en qué posiciones nos encontramos en país, analizar autores y también llegar a conocer el mapeo de otros países de América Latina y el Caribe.
